Shipping options

Shipping options are confirmed before payment. Availability may depend on item size, value, destination, box condition, and whether the item is sealed, used, fragile, or part of a larger collection.

Handling and packing

Retired set boxes are treated as collectible items. Where possible, items are packed to reduce crushing, corner damage, moisture exposure, and movement in transit. Large display sets and sealed boxes may require additional packing materials.

Insurance and signature

For higher-value items, tracked shipping, signature on delivery, and insurance or extra cover may be recommended or required. Shipping cost and cover should be agreed before payment.

Local pickup

Local pickup may be available by arrangement. Pickup details, timing, payment status, and item condition should be confirmed before handover.

Condition before purchase

Condition photos and descriptions should be reviewed before payment. For sealed sets, this may include seals, corners, shelf wear, dents, creases, stickers, and box faces. For used sets, this may include completeness, manuals, minifigures, rare parts, and known missing or damaged pieces.

Returns and refunds

Because many items are retired collectibles, returns are considered case by case. Change-of-mind returns may not be available once an item has been shipped or collected, unless agreed in writing before purchase.

Damaged or incorrect items

If an item arrives damaged or materially different from the confirmed description, contact Rare & Retired promptly with photos of the packaging, shipping label, item, and damage. Any refund, return, insurance claim, replacement, or partial adjustment will depend on the circumstances and evidence provided.

Deposits and sourcing requests

If a deposit or sourcing payment is used for a hard-to-find item, the deposit terms should be confirmed before payment. This includes whether the payment is refundable, what happens if the set cannot be sourced, and what condition range is acceptable.

Buyer responsibility

Customers should ask questions before payment if condition, completeness, shipping risk, or suitability is important. Rare & Retired aims to describe items honestly, but collectible condition can be subjective.
